Baku: Sahil Babayev, Azerbaijan's Minister of Labor and Social Protection of Population and Co-Chair of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Serbia, met with Ana Brnabic, Speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan. During their meeting, they focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between the two nations and examined opportunities for joint projects and mutual investments.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, discussions emphasized Azerbaijan's commitment to enhancing strategic ties with Serbia across various sectors. Minister Sahil Babayev highlighted the importance of interparliamentary relations and the role of the Intergovernmental Commission in promoting bilateral cooperation. He mentioned that several initiatives were proposed during the Commission's 8th session in Baku in July 2024, and announced that the 9th session is scheduled for October 2025 in Belgrade.

The meeting also revealed that mutual investments are increasing, with trade turnover rising by 16.7% in 2024, reaching $190.3 million. Both sides recognized the potential for projects in energy, infrastructure, aviation, agriculture, and cultural and humanitarian spheres. Ana Brnabic praised the high level of relations between Azerbaijan and Serbia, attributing the partnership to mutual trust and friendship. She also pointed out that current trade and economic statistics do not fully capture the potential of the partnership, highlighting opportunities for further cooperation.

Brnabic noted the interest of Azerbaijani investors in Serbia's real estate, agriculture, and other sectors. The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on issues of mutual interest.
