Azerbaijan and Singapore Sign MoU to Enhance SME Digital Transformation.


BAKU: Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Transport and Digital Development, through its Innovation and Digital Development Agency, has formalized a strategic partnership with Singapore’s state-owned Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE) by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration aims to accelerate the digital transformation of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in both countries.

According to Trend News Agency, the MoU outlines a framework for both nations to exchange knowledge and develop skills in digital government services, policies, and regulatory frameworks. The primary objective is to foster cooperation in SME digitalization and other sectors. Singapore brings to the table its extensive experience in SME digitalization, having engaged in this field since 2017.

The Innovation and Digital Development Agency was established under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport by a presidential decree from Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on October 11, 2021. The
agency is tasked with coordinating digital transformation efforts nationwide, nurturing a local innovation environment, and improving the overall ecosystem. Its key focus areas include nuclear science and technology testing, supporting innovation-driven scientific research and startups, promoting the adoption of modern technologies, and ensuring accessible education and career opportunities in the ICT sector. Additionally, the agency is responsible for establishing and managing digital government and society initiatives.
