Azerbaijan and The Gambia Foreign Ministers Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Baku: Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, engaged in a telephone conversation with Sering Modou Njie, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad of The Gambia. The Azerbaijan Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported this interaction to APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the dialogue centered on the current status and potential development of the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and The Gambia. Both ministers emphasized the necessity of conducting political consultations between their respective Foreign Ministries soon, as outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations signed last September.

The ministers also highlighted the importance of fostering political dialogue, organizing reciprocal visits, and strengthening cooperation within international organizations. The conversation included discussions on Azerbaijan's upcoming chairmanship of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the preparations for high-level events during this tenure. Additionally, the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister updated his Gambian counterpart on the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), which is set to occur in Azerbaijan this year.

Furthermore, the phone call addressed topics concerning regional and international security, along with various other issues of mutual interest.
