Baku: Azerbaijan and Turkey must strengthen their energy alliance by swiftly implementing the planned energy corridor through Nakhchivan, Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz stated at the 12th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the two nations.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Yilmaz highlighted the strategic importance of the energy projects initiated by Azerbaijan and Turkey, such as the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipelines. These initiatives have significantly contributed to Europe's energy security through the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP). Yilmaz emphasized that the vision of the two countries should extend beyond merely transporting oil and gas, suggesting that they should become strategic centers for energy management and security.

Furthermore, Yilmaz called for a diversification of cooperation in the energy sector to include renewable energy sources. He reiterated the necessity of promptly implementing the Nakhchivan energy corridor to solidify the energy partnership between Azerbaijan and Turkey.
