Baku: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with Chairman of Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to discuss the enhancement of bilateral relations between the two nations. The meeting, which took place on July 16, was aimed at fostering the brotherly ties and cooperation that have historically existed between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Ilham Aliyev warmly welcomed Chairman Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Azerbaijan and expressed confidence that the visit would significantly contribute to the development of relations between the two countries. He highlighted the successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan in various sectors such as politics, economy, and energy. President Aliyev emphasized the deep-rooted fraternal traditions between the two nations, which have strengthened over the years, and expressed optimism about future collaborations.

Chairman Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, on his part, conveyed warm greetings from the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended to him and his delegation. He underscored the importance of further strengthening bilateral relations and advancing new projects. Chairman Berdimuhamedov described the current relations between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan as characterized by brotherhood, good neighborliness, and cooperation. He mentioned the mutual understanding and strategic partnership between the two countries, which are grounded in a shared history and common interests.

Berdimuhamedov pointed out the solid and broad agenda for cooperation in foreign policy, economics, culture, and humanitarian affairs. He highlighted the consistent and sustainable nature of their interactions, driven by the high level of mutual understanding and trust between their leaders. The Chairman reiterated Turkmenistan’s commitment to supporting international stability and security and congratulated Azerbaijan on its successful hosting of the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization.

Both leaders acknowledged the growing trade and economic partnership, as well as expanding ties in culture, science, and education. They also recognized the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation and public diplomacy as integral elements of interstate relations.
