Azerbaijan and U.S. Advance Strategic Partnership Charter Talks

Baku: Azerbaijan and the United States held the second online meeting of the Strategic Working Group, led by Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Sonata Coulter, to develop the Charter on Strategic Partnership between the two nations.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the meeting, which took place on January 21, 2026, focused on enhancing the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and the U.S. The discussions encompassed a range of sectors, including energy, trade, regional connections, economic investment, defense and security, counter-terrorism, and digital infrastructure. These discussions are based on the Memorandum of Understanding signed at the Washington Peace Summit in August of the previous year.

The two sides continued to work on the text of the document with the goal of finalizing the Charter on Strategic Partnership, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation in various key areas.
