Baku:Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Defense, Agil Gurbanov, held a series of meetings during the 6th Azerbaijan International Defense Exhibition, 'ADEX 2026,' focusing on enhancing military cooperation and technological advancements.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, Gurbanov met with Greg Sawyer, head of the Office of the U.S. Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs and War Policy. The discussions emphasized Azerbaijan's commitment to military development alongside the United States, highlighting Azerbaijani servicemen's contributions to peacekeeping operations.
Sawyer expressed his appreciation for the hospitality during his visit to Azerbaijan and acknowledged the strong defense, security, and military-technical cooperation between the two countries. The dialogue included developing next-generation technology platforms and sharing expertise in modern technical equipment and defense systems production, with potential expansion in military-technical cooperation.
Captain Christopher Familetti from the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan was also in attendance. Additionally, Gurbanov engaged with Marius-Gabriel Lazurca, an adviser to the Romanian President, and Geunyung Park, Director General of South Korea's Defense Acquisition Program Administration. These meetings involved discussions on unmanned aerial vehicle production, armed unmanned surface vessels, maritime systems, and other defense industry interests.
