Azerbaijan and U.S. Discuss Normalization Process with Armenia and Bilateral Relations

Baku: On October 21, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with Michael Carpenter, Special Assistant to the U.S. President and Senior Director for Europe at the National Security Council, to discuss the normalization process with Armenia and bilateral relations with the United States.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, during the meeting, both bilateral and regional issues between Azerbaijan and the United States were addressed, along with the current status and future prospects of the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The discussions underscored the importance of enhancing efforts to foster positive dynamics in Azerbaijan-U.S. relations and to explore avenues for future cooperation.

Minister Bayramov briefed Carpenter on the recent developments concerning the normalization and peace agreement processes between Azerbaijan and Armenia, including details from the latest meeting held in Istanbul. Despite significant advancements in the peace
talks, Bayramov highlighted that the main challenge to concluding a final peace agreement remains the ongoing territorial claims made against Azerbaijan, which are reflected in various legal and political documents of Armenia, including its Constitution.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for both parties to exchange views on various regional issues of mutual interest.
