Abu dhabi: A delegation representing Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defense is currently on a working visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as reported by APA citing the Ministry of Defense's press service. During this visit, Azerbaijan's Minister of Defense, Zakir Hasanov, met with Mohamed bin Mubarak Fadhel Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of State for Defense Affairs, to discuss the current state and future prospects of bilateral military cooperation.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, discussions between the Azerbaijani and UAE officials highlighted the role of joint exercises and reciprocal visits in expanding military relations between the two countries. Both parties engaged in an extensive exchange of views on mutual interests in the military, military-technical, and military education sectors.
Additionally, the First Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijani Army, Karim Valiyev, held a meeting with Issa Saif bin Ablan Al Mazrouei, Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces. The discussions underscored the significance of the joint operational-tactical exercise 'Peace Shield - 2026,' which involves servicemen from both nations. This exercise is seen as crucial for enhancing the exchange of experience. The Chiefs of Staff also deliberated on several other issues of concern.
The Azerbaijani defense leadership participated in the high-level observer day of the "Peace Shield - 2026" joint operational-tactical exercise, further solidifying the military ties between Azerbaijan and the UAE.
