Baku:Bahar Muradova, Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children's Affairs, recently met with Kaori Ishikawa, UN Women's Country Representative in Georgia and Liaison for South Caucasus, to discuss initiatives for women's empowerment and digital safety.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the discussions between Muradova and Ishikawa focused on promoting gender equality and addressing other related issues. Muradova emphasized several key projects developed in collaboration with UN Women aimed at advancing gender equality and safeguarding women's rights in Azerbaijan. These initiatives, implemented alongside public institutions and civil society, have reportedly contributed to the establishment of effective mechanisms and legislative improvements.
Muradova also mentioned the ongoing "National Action Plan on Gender (Men and Women) Equality" for 2026-2028, which is being executed with relevant institutions. She highlighted the opportunities and challenges brought about by digital transformation, particularly affecting women.
Kaori Ishikawa expressed satisfaction with the current level of collaboration between Azerbaijan and UN Women. She affirmed the organization's interest in continuing its activities in this region. Both parties discussed the significance of participating in regional and global events and explored prospects for future cooperation on issues of shared interest.
