Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan Sign 2027 Military Cooperation Plan

Baku:A delegation from Uzbekistan's Ministry of Defense is visiting Azerbaijan to participate in the 6th Azerbaijan International Defence Exhibition 'ADEX-2026' at the Baku Expo Center, as well as the Distinguished Visitors Day of the 'Power of Unity - 2026' joint military exercise.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the visit included a meeting on September 30 between Azerbaijan's Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, and Uzbekistan's Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Shukhrat Khalmukhamedov. The meeting took place during the international defense exhibition.

Colonel General Zakir Hasanov underscored the enduring friendship and allied relationship between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, emphasizing their shared historical and cultural ties as a foundation for military cooperation. He also noted the significance of mutual visits and constructive meetings in advancing bilateral relations.

Lieutenant General Shukhrat Khalmukhamedov expressed his satisfaction with the visit and highlighted the positive impacts of joint military exercises and international events on bilateral cooperation. He thanked Colonel General Zakir Hasanov for the successful organization of the 'Power of Unity - 2026' joint military exercise.

The discussions between the two sides covered the current state and future prospects of cooperation in military, military education, and military-technical fields. They also addressed issues of mutual interest. The meeting concluded with the signing of the Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan for 2027 between the defense ministries of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
