BAKU: President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has ratified a cooperation agreement between Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Uzbekistan’s National Guard, marking a new chapter in bilateral security relations between the two nations.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the agreement, initially signed in Tashkent on August 23, 2024, aims to enhance collaboration in various security and law enforcement areas. With President Aliyev’s recent approval, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Internal Affairs is tasked with implementing the agreement’s provisions once it officially takes effect.
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been directed to inform the Uzbek government of the completion of the requisite domestic procedures to bring the agreement into force. This development reflects ongoing efforts by both countries to strengthen cooperation and address shared security challenges in the region.
