Khankendi: Azerbaijan has announced significant developments in the infrastructure and population resettlement efforts in the liberated territories of Khankendi, Aghdara, and Khojaly. Large-scale projects are underway, including the construction of highways, railways, airports, and improvements to electricity and water supply systems. These initiatives aim to boost the economy, education, healthcare, public services, and cultural heritage restoration. The announcement was made by Elchin Yusubov, the Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in these regions, during the ‘Spiritual Values’ event marking the 5th anniversary of the Victory in Karabakh.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Elchin Yusubov highlighted the phased and voluntary return of nearly 22,000 former internally displaced persons to these areas as part of the ‘Great Return’ program. The resettled population includes former internally displaced persons, employees of state and private institutions, and their families. Restoration and repair works are ongoing in specific settlements, with an expected resettlement of about 6,000 former internally displaced persons in Khankendi, Khojaly, and Aghdara.

Efforts to revitalize the region’s economy have attracted investments exceeding 65 million manats, fostering employment and entrepreneurship. The ‘Week of Spiritual Values’ is currently being held to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the Victory in the Patriotic War in Karabakh. This initiative, supported by various institutions, aims to strengthen national identity and promote cultural heritage among the youth.
