Baku: Armed Forces Day was marked with a series of events across the Azerbaijan Army, encompassing various troop branches, army corps, formations, military units, the Combined Arms Army, special military educational institutions, and military attach© offices of the Republic of Azerbaijan in foreign countries. The Azerbaijan Ministry of Defence shared this information with AZERTAC.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the events began with a one-minute silence in memory of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the Martyrs, followed by the performance of the National Anthem. Participants were informed about the history of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the development of the Azerbaijan Army. It was noted that the national army development process, initiated during the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic era, has reached a new stage in independent Azerbaijan. The Separate Azerbaijan Corps, established on 26 June 1918, laid the foundation for this development. Heydar Aliyev's historic Decree on 22 May 1998, established 26 June as Armed Forces Day in Azerbaijan.
Under the leadership of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijan Army has become a capable and combat-ready force. This was demonstrated during the Patriotic War, where the Azerbaijan Army liberated territories swiftly, bringing victory to the nation.
Military units conducted public-political training sessions, roundtable discussions, and conferences. They also organized visits to museums, and exhibitions, and screened films. The graves of martyrs were visited, and meetings with their families were held. Concerts were performed by the Army Ideological and Cultural Center, the Ganja Garrison Ideological and Cultural Center, and others from the cultural community.
Additionally, distinguished servicemen were honored with awards for their exemplary performance.
