Azerbaijan Border Guards Detain Nine for March 2026 Crossing Violations

Baku: Nine individuals were detained by the State Border Service for violating the state border during March 2026, as reported by the Press Center of the State Border Service. This information was made public through a statement covered by APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, among those detained were 3 Azerbaijani citizens, 3 Pakistani nationals, 2 Iranians, and 1 Kazakhstani. The enforcement measures included detaining 6 individuals who attempted to cross the state border using falsified date stamps and passports, as well as documents belonging to others. In addition, 72 people were detained for violating border regime rules, with appropriate measures taken against them.

Efforts to combat crime led to the detention of 322 individuals wanted by law enforcement agencies, who were subsequently handed over to the relevant authorities. Furthermore, the authorities prevented 582 individuals, who were banned from leaving the country, from exiting, as well as the entry of 11 individuals banned from entering the country.

In a bid to combat the illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs, authorities detected and removed a total of 541 kilograms and 132 grams of narcotic substances, along with 17 narcotic-containing tablets. Anti-smuggling measures resulted in the seizure of smuggled goods valued at 7 million 573 thousand 290 manats. These goods included Russian Federation currency, ammunition for firearms, medicines, and tobacco products.
