Baku: Azerbaijan’s State Border Service (SBS) successfully intercepted an attempt to smuggle 12.6 kilograms of marijuana via drone from Iran. On July 16, the ‘Goytepe’ border unit thwarted the narcotics transfer, activating the ‘Arms!’ command to secure the area and initiate a border search.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, urgent operational and military measures led to the apprehension of a ‘Hyundai’ vehicle with license plate 77-RA-376 as it attempted to flee. Local residents assisted in stopping the vehicle, which resulted in the confiscation of the marijuana.

The individuals detained during the operation were identified as Agshin Ilgar Shahtakhtinski, born in 1998 and residing in Baku, and Rinad Aladdin Aliyev, born in 2003 and from the Fuzuli district. Both confessed to their involvement, stating they were at the location to retrieve the smuggled drugs.

The SBS continues to conduct operational and investigative actions to further address this incident.
