Azerbaijan Celebrates 27th Anniversary of Special Forces with Commemorative Events

Baku: A series of events were held to commemorate the 27th anniversary of the establishment of the Special Forces, as reported by Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defense to AZERTAC. Celebrations commenced with the leadership of the Special Forces and a group of servicemen paying their respects at the bust of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the memorial complex dedicated to martyrs within the military unit. Flowers were laid, and tributes were paid to honor their memory.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the events were attended by representatives from the Ministry of Defense, the Military Prosecutor's Office, and various members of the Special Forces, including officers, warrant officers, and both reserve and retired servicemen. A minute of silence was observed in memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs, followed by the performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Congratulatory messages from the leadership of the Ministry of Defense were conveyed to the attendees. Speakers highlighted the history of the Special Forces, established under the instructions of the National Leader, and the heroism shown by its personnel in liberating occupied territories. It was noted that President Ilham Aliyev, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, places significant importance on the Special Forces, valuing their heroism in the 44-day Patriotic War and other operations.

Veterans of the Special Forces expressed their readiness to fulfill any orders from the Commander-in-Chief, pledging to serve the Motherland with honor and uphold the trust placed in them. They shared their pride in serving in the Special Forces. A video dedicated to the Special Forces was also showcased during the events.

As part of the commemorations, visits were made to the graves of martyrs, and servicemen met with the families of martyrs to address their concerns and needs. Families and relatives of martyrs expressed gratitude towards President Ilham Aliyev, First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, and the Ministry of Defense leadership for their attention and care.

The events concluded with awards being presented to servicemen who distinguished themselves in service. A tree-planting campaign was also organized to mark the 27th anniversary of the Special Forces' establishment.
