Azerbaijan Condemns Alleged Iranian Drone Attack on Nakhchivan, Injuring Two Civilians

Baku: Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reported that a drone attack originating from Iran targeted the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, resulting in injuries to two civilians.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the attack took place around midday on March 5, when drones struck the terminal building of the Nakhchivan airport and landed near a school in the village of Shakarabad.

The Azerbaijani government has strongly condemned the drone strikes, labeling them as violations of international law and attributing the attacks to Iran. The ministry emphasized that the incident has escalated regional tensions and has called for Iran to provide a detailed explanation, conduct a swift investigation, and implement urgent measures to prevent future occurrences.

In response to the incident, Azerbaijan has summoned Mojtaba Demirchilou, the Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, to deliver a formal protest and present a note of protest to the Iranian authorities. The ministry also stated that Azerbaijan reserves the right to take appropriate measures in response to the attack.
