Baku: Azerbaijan’s legal system has taken decisive action against individuals accused of attempting to promote communist ideology through a march featuring USSR flags. During separate hearings at the Nizami District Court, presided over by Judges Matanat Hajiyeva and Emin Akhundov, pre-trial detention measures of three months were imposed on Ibrahim Asadli and Abdulla Ibrahimli, respectively.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the accused have been charged under Article 233 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to organizing actions that lead to the violation of public order or actively participating in such actions. The court hearings are part of a broader legal response to the submissions regarding the individuals’ actions on social media aimed at promoting communist ideology.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has played a key role in identifying and detaining the organizers, including Asadli, Ibrahimli, and other participants. The ministry’s investigation revealed that the individuals had rented an office with foreign support, where they operated as a group and conducted periodic meetings.

Further inspections of the offices and residences linked to the accused uncovered a range of materials, including communist propaganda, flags, radical literature, and electronic devices, all of which were seized as evidence. The legal proceedings mark a significant development in Azerbaijan’s efforts to address activities deemed to disrupt public order.
