Baku: The final court hearing in the case against Ilkin Ganbarov, Vusal Aghayev, Tural Aliyev, and Mammad Sharifov, who faced charges of high treason, concluded at the State Security Service (SSS). The Baku Military Court, presided over by Judge Bilal Mammadov, announced the sentences for the accused individuals. Ganbarov and Aghayev received prison terms of 18 years each, while Aliyev and Sharifov were sentenced to 17 years and 6 months of imprisonment.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Ilkin Ganbarov and Vusal Aghayev were implicated in treason by providing assistance to a foreign intelligence service. The State Security Service's operations led to their detention and subsequent investigation. As part of the continued measures by the SSS, Tural Aliyev was apprehended in Jordan, and Mammad Sharifov was captured in Turkey, both were then extradited to Azerbaijan.
The charges against the four individuals were filed under Article 274 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which pertains to treason against the state.
