Baku: Azerbaijan State Customs Committee officials have successfully intercepted an attempt to smuggle gold bars through the country’s customs border. The illicit activity was thwarted by the Main Customs Directorate for Air Transport, which conducted customs control measures.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the customs officials carried out an inspection of the hand luggage belonging to an Azerbaijani citizen who had arrived on a flight from Dubai to Baku. During this inspection, they discovered 37 ‘Pamp’ brand gold bars weighing approximately 365 grams. These items were concealed within the individual’s jacket and handbag, effectively hidden from customs control.

The interception underscores the vigilance of the Azerbaijan State Customs Committee in preventing illegal activities and ensuring compliance with customs regulations. The agency’s swift action highlights its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the country’s borders.
