Azerbaijan Declares 2024 as Green World Solidarity Year to Guide COP29 Preparations

Baku: The declaration of 2024 as the Green World Solidarity Year by President Ilham Aliyev has established a strategic framework for the preparations of the COP29 conference. Narmin Jarchalova, Chairperson of the Board of the COP29 Operating Company, shared this during the presentation ceremony of the special edition of the World of Diplomacy journal.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Jarchalova emphasized that the presidential order has been pivotal in guiding all activities related to COP29, providing a political vision and strategic foundation essential for organizing the event and executing its agenda. She highlighted Azerbaijan’s proactive communication of its priorities in green energy transition, climate action, and sustainable development. These discussions have taken place across various international platforms, including conferences, multilateral events, and bilateral meetings, ensuring Azerbaijan’s clear representation in the global arena.

Jarchalova noted that through these concerted efforts, Azerbaijan has garnered trust and support from partner countries, international organizations, and global institutions. This backing has been instrumental in successfully implementing the COP29 processes and shaping the outcomes of the conference.
