Lachin: The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, met with the Chief of the Army Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Field Marshal Asim Munir, during his visit to Azerbaijan.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meeting took place on May 28 in the city of Lachin. Colonel General Hasanov expressed his pleasure in hosting the Pakistani guest in Azerbaijan and congratulated Field Marshal Munir on his recent promotion to the high military rank of “Field Marshal.” He highlighted the importance that the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Mr. Ilham Aliyev, places on enhancing military relations with friendly and brotherly Pakistan.

Field Marshal Munir expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to him. He emphasized the significance of mutual visits in furthering military relations between the two nations.

The discussions focused on the prospects for the development of military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Pakistan. Both sides deliberated on increasing the intensity of joint exercises with the aid of modern technologies and addressed several other issues of mutual interest.
