Azerbaijan Defense Minister Engages in Strategic Talks with Turkish Parliament’s Defense Commission Head


Baku: The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, held a significant meeting with a delegation led by Mr. Hulusi Akar, Chairman of the Turkish Parliament’s National Defense Commission and former Minister of National Defense of Turkiye. This meeting took place on April 16, as reported by the Ministry of Defense to APA.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the discussions commenced with Mr. Akar signing the Book of Honor, following the established protocol. Colonel General Hasanov expressed his satisfaction with welcoming the Turkish delegation to Azerbaijan. He emphasized the importance of the strong relations between the leaders of both nations, which significantly contribute to the advancement of Azerbaijani-Turkish cooperation across various domains, including defense.



Mr. Akar shared his enthusiasm for his first visit to Azerbaijan this year and thanked his hosts for their warm reception. He underscored the importance of such visits, noting that the military relations between Azerbaijan and Turkiye have evolved into a strategic alliance, which continues to grow.



The meeting provided an opportunity for an extensive exchange of views on topics of mutual interest, with a particular focus on regional security issues.
