Baku: During August 2026, 17 people were detained by the State Border Service for violating the state border, APA reports, citing the Press Center of the State Border Service. These individuals consisted of six Azerbaijani citizens, six Iranians, two Pakistanis, two Algerians, and one Turkish national.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, efforts to combat illegal migration led to the detention of six individuals who attempted to cross the border using falsified date stamps, passports, and documents belonging to other people. Furthermore, 57 individuals were detained for violating border regime rules, with appropriate measures taken against them.

In a broader crackdown, measures to combat crime resulted in the detention of 317 individuals wanted by law enforcement agencies, who were subsequently handed over to the relevant authorities. Additionally, 764 people prevented from leaving the country and 35 individuals banned from entering were stopped at the borders.

Efforts to curb illegal drug trafficking led to the seizure of 266 kilograms and 873 grams of narcotic substances and 5,236 pills. Among these, one incident involved the transportation of 28 kilograms and 500 grams of narcotics by an unmanned aerial vehicle. The State Border Service emphasized that measures to ensure the reliable protection of the state borders are ongoing.
