Baku: Azerbaijan’s State Border Service detained 22 foreign nationals for border violations in February, as reported by the Press Center of the State Border Service.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the individuals included 10 Pakistani citizens, 4 Moroccans, 1 Afghan, and 1 Algerian. Additionally, 6 Iranian nationals were apprehended in the Caspian Sea during a joint operation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs for attempting to smuggle narcotics.

The report also highlighted efforts against illegal migration, with 9 individuals detained for attempting to cross the border using falsified documents. In total, 779 people were detained for violating border regime rules, and appropriate measures were taken against them.

Furthermore, 298 individuals wanted by law enforcement were captured and handed over to authorities. Preventative actions included stopping 397 individuals banned from leaving the country and blocking the entry of 15 individuals prohibited from entering Azerbaijan.

Efforts against narcotics led to the seizure of 155 kilograms and 193 grams of narcotic substances, 191 pills, and 105 liters of liquid narcotics. In smuggling operations, goods valued at 16 million 787 thousand 836 AZN, including weaponry, pharmaceuticals, and tobacco products, were confiscated.

The State Border Service emphasizes that measures for the protection of Azerbaijan’s borders continue.
