Azerbaijan Detains 28 Foreigners in Drug-Related Cases


Baku: Azerbaijan detained 28 foreigners in drug-related cases in the first quarter of this year, as reported by the State Commission on Combating Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking. In January-March, 1,068 individuals faced criminal charges for involvement in the illegal circulation of narcotic drugs.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, among those held criminally liable, there was a diverse age range with 1 individual under 18, 68 individuals aged 18-25, 175 individuals between 26-29, and 824 individuals aged 30 and above. The vast majority of these individuals were male, totaling 1,034, while 34 were female.



Of the 1,068 individuals, 28 were identified as foreign nationals. These included 13 citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran, 5 from Russia, 4 from Georgia, 5 from Turkey, and 1 from Ukraine. From these foreign nationals, authorities seized a total of 329 kg 497.152 g of various narcotic substances and psychotropic drugs.
