Baku: Azerbaijan's State Border Service has reported significant achievements in its efforts to combat illegal activities along the nation's borders in 2025. The service successfully detained six individuals for participating in combat operations abroad and dismantled 12 organized criminal groups involved in illegal migration.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the State Border Service's 2025 report highlighted the detainment of 516 individuals for state border violations and 1,226 for breaching border regulations. Additionally, 3,922 people wanted by law enforcement, 108 individuals using forged documents, eight using documents belonging to others, and six attempting to cross the border clandestinely were apprehended.

The report further detailed the results of counterterrorism measures, including the neutralization of 18 organized criminal groups involved in illegal drug trafficking and eight involved in smuggling. In collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, the State Border Service thwarted the illegal transport of over 4 tons of narcotic substances, 78,457 psychotropic pills, and smuggled goods valued at over 128 million manat. The destruction of over 24 tons of narcotic plants was also noted as a key accomplishment.
