Baku:Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Hasanov announced ongoing efforts to enhance artificial intelligence capabilities in the Azerbaijani language at the 7th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue in Baku.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, Hasanov highlighted that individuals aged 16-18 in Azerbaijan will be permitted to use social media accounts only with parental consent, following a law adopted earlier this year aimed at children's safety on social media. This law positions Azerbaijan among countries that restrict social media access for children under 16.
Hasanov expressed concerns about the various digital risks faced by children, such as exposure to harmful content and contact with strangers. He emphasized the importance of technology serving children positively rather than exposing them to negative effects.
Azerbaijan's digital development strategy for 2026-2028 includes ensuring accessible digital services to all citizens, irrespective of age, language, or skills. Hasanov noted the significance of language in this strategy, revealing that AI capabilities are being developed in Azerbaijani to aid in delivering public services, with speech-to-text technologies being implemented in the my.gov application.
Improving digital literacy remains a priority, with initiatives like the Digital Horizon program set to train over 25,000 civil servants from 275 institutions on topics including artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
