Astara: Humanitarian aid sent by Azerbaijan to Iran has been dispatched from the Astara state border checkpoint.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, this aid follows a telephone conversation on March 8, 2026, between President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and President Masoud Pezeshkian of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The aid is intended to address the current needs of the Iranian people, underscoring the neighborly and friendly relations between the two nations.
The humanitarian shipment, consisting of essential supplies, has already reached the Astara state border checkpoint. The consignment includes 10 tons of flour, 6 tons of rice, 2.4 tons of sugar, more than 4 tons of water, nearly 600 kg of tea, and nearly 2 tons of medicines and medical supplies. Transported by vehicles from Azerbaijan's Ministry of Emergency Situations, the aid awaits completion of border procedures before continuing its journey into Iran.
