Malta: A delegation from Azerbaijan, including representatives from the State Tourism Agency, participated in the 72nd Meeting of the Commission for Europe of UN Tourism held in Malta.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the key focus of the meeting was the proposal to declare the year 2027 as the International Year of Sustainable and Resilient Tourism. The agenda included a presentation titled 'Global Vision and Regional Approach' by UN Tourism Secretary-General Shaikha Al Nuwais. Participants also agreed on Montenegro as the host for the 73rd meeting scheduled for 2027.
The event featured a high-level conference under the theme 'Driving Tourism Towards the Future We Want: A Dialogue on Policies to Balance Growth, People and Planet.' Discussions at the conference centered on the impact of state policies on sustainable tourism development, the well-being of local communities, and maintaining ecological balance.
