Azerbaijan Engages in Talks with Global Energy Bodies on Cooperation

Baku: As part of Baku Energy Week, Azerbaijan's Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov held significant meetings with Philip Mshelbila, Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), and Francesco La Camera, Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, discussions with GECF Secretary General Philip Mshelbila centered on global gas market trends. The dialogue emphasized the growing role of natural gas amid increasing electricity demand, energy security, and the energy transition. Azerbaijan's participation in the upcoming GECF summit and potential avenues for strengthened cooperation were key points of focus.

In the meeting with IRENA Director-General Francesco La Camera, the discussions highlighted the expansion of renewable energy initiatives. The conversation covered financing opportunities for green energy projects and emphasized enhanced cooperation with international financial institutions. Additionally, regional integration, grid development, energy storage, and interconnector expansion in the renewable energy sector were discussed as part of advancing the energy transition and the green energy agenda.
