Baku: Azerbaijan's legislative body, the Milli Majlis, has approved amendments to the law 'On Civil Service' concerning civil servants summoned for compulsory military or alternative service. As reported by APA, these amendments allow for the termination of a civil servant's public service if they are called up for such duties.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the newly adopted provisions ensure that, except in cases where a state body is dissolved, individuals returning from compulsory military service can reclaim their former roles or equivalent positions within 60 days post-discharge. This reappointment policy is applicable to those who were employed in the relevant state body before conscription. Moreover, the duration of their military service will be recognized as part of their total length of service if they resume their civil service roles promptly after returning from military duty.

The amendments were put to a vote during the session and were successfully adopted in the third reading, marking a significant update to the civil service legislation.
