Azerbaijan Expands Digital Signature System to More Banks


BAKU: Efforts are underway to connect more Azerbaijani banks to the SIMA Imza electronic signature system, as authorities push for greater digital integration in the financial sector. Currently, around 10 banks are linked to the system, with plans to onboard an additional 6 to 7 banks, according to statements made by Tamerlan Meshedihasanli, Head of the Products and Services Department of AzInTelecom LLC, at a recent conference.

According to Trend News Agency, the initiative aims to provide citizens with free access to the SIMA Imza system, eliminating any fees for users. Meshedihasanli highlighted that the costs associated with using the system will be managed through partnerships with participating banks. He noted that the limited number of banks currently connected is due to challenges in the digitalization process rather than payment issues.

Meshedihasanli emphasized the importance of digitalization for Azerbaijani banks and credit organizations to facilitate their integration with SIMA Imza. The move i
