Jakarta:President Ilham Aliyev has announced that Azerbaijan is reinforcing its status as a vital transport hub in the region, facilitating reliable transit through the North-South and East-West international corridors.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, President Aliyev shared these insights during a limited-format meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State.

During the first half of 2026, the volume of transit cargo passing through Azerbaijan increased by 10 percent, reaching nearly 8 million tons. President Aliyev stated that the medium-term goal is to boost cargo transportation along the East-West and North-South routes to 15 million tons in each direction.
