Baku: Azerbaijan has taken decisive action against foreign nationals violating its migration laws, with 161 individuals being administratively expelled in June 2025 alone. These foreigners, who failed to comply with the country’s migration legislation, now face entry restrictions for a legally established period, as reported by the State Migration Service in response to an inquiry from APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the first half of 2025 saw significant cross-border activity, with 1,217,558 entries into Azerbaijan by citizens of 185 countries. During this period, the State Migration Service issued 9,714 administrative decisions concerning citizens of 119 countries for breaches of migration laws. Among these, 1,007 foreigners were expelled and had their entry restricted.

The State Migration Service also reported receiving 33,342 applications for temporary residence permits from citizens of 141 countries during this time. In June 2025 alone, 237,510 entries were recorded from citizens of 167 countries. Efforts to curb illegal migration led to the detention of 750 individuals during the relevant period.
