Baku: Azerbaijan has experienced a decline in its global internet speed rankings, dropping one position in the global ranking for average fixed broadband internet speed last month compared to September. The country now stands at 84th among 156 countries, APA-Economics reports, citing Ookla’s Speedtest Global Index.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the average fixed broadband speed in Azerbaijan in October was recorded at 84.82 Mbps. On the global scale, Singapore leads the list of countries with the highest fixed broadband speed at 406.14 Mbps, while Syria is at the bottom with 3.51 Mbps.
In terms of average mobile internet speed, Azerbaijan also saw a decline, falling one position to rank 53rd among 104 countries in October. The average mobile internet speed for the country during this period was 79.94 Mbps. The United States holds the top spot for mobile internet speed at 652.87 Mbps, whereas Bolivia is ranked last with 13.96 Mbps.
The capital city, Baku, also experienced a drop in its ranking for average fixed broadband speed, falling by four positions to 116th among 201 cities. The average fixed broadband speed in Baku was 85.02 Mbps in October. Valparaso, Chile, leads the city rankings with the fastest fixed broadband speed of 417.99 Mbps, and Aleppo, Syria, ranks last at 2.75 Mbps.
On a positive note, Baku improved its standings in the mobile internet speed category, moving up two positions to rank 79th among 150 cities, with an average mobile internet speed of 101.66 Mbps. Abu Dhabi, UAE, claims the top spot for city mobile internet speeds at 726.55 Mbps, while La Paz, Bolivia, ranks last with 9.72 Mbps.
