Azerbaijan Extends Support for War-Disabled and Martyrs’ Families Until 2029

Accra:Azerbaijan has decided to extend the period for funding the social security of war-disabled individuals and families of martyrs until 2029. This decision comes through an amendment made by President Ilham Aliyev to an existing order concerning the financing of social protection measures for these groups.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, the amendment tasks the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population with providing additional funds through state compulsory personal insurance resources accumulated over the years 2022 to 2029. This funding will be directed towards several key initiatives.

One major initiative involves providing apartments or individual houses to war-disabled persons and the families of martyrs. This is in line with previous orders aimed at improving living conditions for these groups, specifically Order No. 569 and Order No. 2449, which focus on enhancing their living standards in connection with the defense of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity, independence, and constitutional order.

Additionally, the extended funding will cover the provision of rehabilitation equipment and services for persons with disabilities, ensuring compliance with the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On the Rights of Persons with Disabilities." The funding period was initially set to end in 2026 but has now been extended to provide continued support.
