BAKU: Azerbaijan has announced an extension of the VAT exemption period for the import and sale of second- and third-level electric vehicle chargers. The exemption, which was initially set for a three-year period ending in 2025, will now continue for five years.

According to Trend News Agency, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, recently signed the “On Amendments to the Tax Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan” into law. This amendment is a significant move to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles in the country by reducing the cost associated with their charging infrastructure. The original VAT exemption started on January 1, 2022, and was slated to conclude on January 1, 2025. With the new law, this incentive will extend until January 1, 2027.
