Baku: A citizen of the Republic of Tajikistan, who was on an international wanted list, has been extradited to his home country by Azerbaijan, as confirmed by the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan to APA. The individual, identified as Mirzoyev Saddam Romishovich, was sought for participating in the activities of a banned organization involved in extremist activities.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Tajikistan had requested the extradition of Mirzoyev, who was born in 1999, to face criminal liability. The request was granted by the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Mirzoyev was located and detained in Azerbaijan in March, and an arrest was imposed as a preventive measure.
The decision to extradite Mirzoyev was made in accordance with the Convention “On Legal Aid and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Matters” dated October 7, 2002. He was subsequently transferred to the authorized body of the Republic of Tajikistan, accompanied by a special convoy from the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice.
