Baku: Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Germany has surpassed USD 1 billion this year, Deputy Minister of Economy Samad Bashirli announced at the ‘German-Azerbaijani Export Finance Conference 2025’ held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, during the period from January to August of this year, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Germany exceeded USD 1 billion, with 94% of exports originating from the non-oil sector. Bashirli highlighted that exports to Germany surpassed USD 900 million, while Azerbaijan’s investments in Germany exceeded USD 600 million.

Bashirli emphasized that these figures position Germany among Azerbaijan’s top five trading partners. He also mentioned that currently, 199 German companies are operating in Azerbaijan. The ongoing cooperation includes regular business dialogue, joint participation in international events, and knowledge exchange, outlined in the cooperation roadmap.

The deputy minister pointed out that energy cooperation is a key aspect of the partnership, noting Germany’s experience in wind and solar technologies as beneficial to Azerbaijan’s onshore and offshore projects. He added that the Caspian Sea holds potential for large-scale wind energy projects and that by 2027, new wind and solar power plants with a total capacity of 3 GW will be operational in the country.
