Azerbaijan Hosts National Taekwondo Championships with Over 400 Participants

Baku: Today, the opening ceremony of the republican championship and national championship in taekwondo was held at the Sports and Health Club of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES SHC). The ceremony was attended by President of the Azerbaijan Taekwondo Federation Kamaladdin Heydarov, Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov, as well as Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) Chingiz Huseynzade. Following the opening ceremony, the competition continued with an artistic program.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, a total of 436 taekwondo athletes from 72 clubs and sports societies representing both the capital and various regions are competing in the tournament. The national youth championship has attracted 317 athletes, comprising 202 boys and 115 girls. Meanwhile, 119 taekwondo athletes, including 81 men and 38 women, are competing in the Azerbaijan championship held among adults.

It should be noted that the national youth championship, which started on December 24, will conclude on December 27.
