Baku: Fines are being established for violations of requirements related to the operation of age-restricted social media platforms, APA reports. This is reflected in the new Article 388-4 added to the Code of Administrative Offenses, which was submitted for discussion at today's session of the Milli Majlis.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the draft outlines penalties for failing to submit required information as specified in the Law 'On Information, Informatization and Protection of Information' to the designated executive authority. Non-compliance or providing incomplete or distorted information will incur fines ranging from 6,000 manats to 7,000 manats for officials and from 15,000 manats to 20,000 manats for legal entities.

Additionally, the draft stipulates fines for age-restricted social media platform providers who do not respond within five working days to inquiries from the designated body. Failure to respond, or the submission of incomplete or distorted information, will result in fines from 7,000 manats to 8,000 manats for officials and from 25,000 manats to 30,000 manats for legal entities.

Violations concerning the safe use of age-restricted social media platforms will lead to fines ranging from 8,000 manats to 9,000 manats for officials and from 35,000 manats to 40,000 manats for legal entities. Repeat offenses within a year will increase fines to 9,000 manats to 10,000 manats for officials and 45,000 manats to 50,000 manats for legal entities.

The law is set to take effect twelve months after its publication. The draft law was put to a vote and adopted on third reading.
