Baku: During the period from January to October 2025, Azerbaijan imported a substantial 44,440.9 kilograms of gold, valued at approximately 4.515 billion US dollars.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, this surge in imports was detailed in a report by the State Statistical Committee, highlighting the country’s extensive global trading partnerships.
The report further indicates that the average import price for 1 kilogram of gold during this period was 101,597 US dollars. In contrast, Azerbaijan’s domestic gold production amounted to just 2,592.7 kilograms over the same ten months. Additionally, the country exported 3,970.7 kilograms of unprocessed gold to Switzerland, generating 276.8245 million US dollars, with an average export price of 69,715 US dollars per kilogram.
Australia emerged as the primary supplier, exporting 7,104.22 kilograms of gold to Azerbaijan, which was valued at 760.18783 million US dollars. Other significant contributors included Russia with 6,783.68 kilograms, and Great Britain with 4,860.9 kilograms. Meanwhile, the United States and Switzerland also played key roles, supplying 4,453.16 kilograms and 3,453.45 kilograms respectively.
The gold imports consisted of semi-processed forms such as bars, wires, profiles, plates, and sheets, with thicknesses exceeding 0.15 mm. These imports underscore Azerbaijan’s strategic move to bolster its gold reserves and diversify its sources across a broad spectrum of countries, including Mexico, Kazakhstan, South Africa, and others.
