Tbilisi: Azerbaijan’s share in the cargo transported by Georgian railways has seen an increase, even as the overall volume of cargo decreased in the third quarter of this year. The volume of cargo transported by Georgian railways fell by 1.4% year-on-year, totaling 3.5 million tons, APA’s local bureau reports, citing the report of the National Statistics Office of Georgia.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, during this period, 9.5% of the cargo was domestic, 32.4% was international, and 58.1% was transit. Notably, 32% of the railway cargo entering Georgia originated from Azerbaijan, marking an increase of 1.7% compared to the previous quarter. In contrast, 29.1% of the cargo came from Russia.

In the months from July to September, the composition of the cargo was diverse, with 37.7% consisting of coke and refined petroleum products. Additionally, chemicals, chemical products, artificial fibers, rubber, and plastic products made up 20.6% of the cargo. Metal ores and other mining and quarrying products constituted 12.6% of the total cargo transported.
