Azerbaijan Intercepts 10 kg Marijuana Delivery by Drone in Astara District


Astara: Azerbaijan authorities have successfully intercepted a shipment of 10 kilograms of marijuana that was smuggled into the country using a drone. The discovery was made near a riverbank in the Astara district, as reported by APA’s southern bureau.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, 37-year-old Javid Hasanov, who has a prior conviction, was detained by officers from the Astara District Police Department. Hasanov was attempting to retrieve the suspicious packages that had been dropped by the UAV. The location of these packages had been transmitted to him for pickup.



The investigation uncovered that Hasanov had been in contact with an Iranian national, who is currently under investigation, and was tasked with distributing the narcotics to various locations. Authorities have initiated a criminal case concerning the incident, and the suspect remains in pre-trial detention as investigative actions continue.
