Baku: A large quantity of narcotic drugs has been prevented from being smuggled into the country, the Press Center of the State Border Service told APA. In a concerted effort to bolster national security, Azerbaijani authorities successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle drugs from Iran using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the incident occurred within the operational jurisdiction of the 'Lankaran' Border Detachment of the Border Troops Command. The border search and operational measures led to the prevention of a significant drug smuggling attempt, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by authorities in combating narcotics trafficking.
As part of the search measures, officials discovered and seized 13 kilograms and 956 grams of marijuana in the border area. This successful operation underscores the effectiveness of coordinated border protection efforts and technological surveillance.
