Azerbaijan Joins Rotterdam Convention

Baku: The Republic of Azerbaijan has acceded to the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade, signed in the city of Rotterdam on September 10, 1998. President Ilham Aliyev has signed the Law in this regard.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, this accession marks Azerbaijan’s commitment to regulating the international trade of certain hazardous chemicals and pesticides. The Rotterdam Convention aims to promote shared responsibilities in relation to the importation of hazardous chemicals and to protect human health and the environment from potential harm. By joining the convention, Azerbaijan will now participate in the global effort to monitor and control the movement of these substances across borders.
