Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan to Unveil Green Energy Project at COP29


BAKU: Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan are set to launch an innovative green energy project aimed at facilitating the transportation of renewable energy from Central Asia to Europe. The announcement was made by Kazakh Ambassador to Azerbaijan Alim Bayel during an event celebrating the Day of Kazakhstan in Baku.

According to Trend News Agency, Ambassador Bayel emphasized that the project will be officially launched at COP29, which Azerbaijan will host this November. He reiterated Kazakhstan’s full support for Azerbaijan in hosting the conference and confirmed the country’s active participation in the event. The COP29 conference is expected to attract between 70,000 to 80,000 international visitors to Baku.

The decision to host COP29 in Azerbaijan was made at the COP28 plenary meeting in Dubai on December 11 last year. The Conference of the Parties (COP) is a key component of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, an agreement established during the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in
June 1992. The COP serves as the primary legislative body responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Framework Convention, with 198 countries as signatories. The first COP meeting took place in March 1995 in Berlin, and the secretariat is based in Bonn, Germany.
