Azerbaijan Leads Investment in Georgia’s Transport Sector

Tbilisi: Azerbaijan emerged as the leading investor in Georgia’s transport sector last year, with the majority of its $83.9 million investments directed towards this area.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the ‘Foreign Direct Investment in 2024’ publication by the National Statistics Office of Georgia highlighted that Azerbaijani investments in the transport sector amounted to $59.2 million, representing 70.56% of Azerbaijan’s total investments in Georgia.

In 2024, Georgia’s transport sector attracted foreign investments totaling $105.2 million, with 56.2% of this amount contributed by Azerbaijan. The investments were facilitated by the Georgian branch of SOCAR Midstream Operations LLC, which ranked 10th among the top foreign investors in Georgia last year.

Besides the transport sector, Azerbaijan also invested in Georgia’s trade and manufacturing sectors, with investments amounting to $16.8 million and $10.4 million respectively. Last year, Azerbaijan secured the 5th position among Georgia’s main investor countries, accounting for 5.3% of the total investment share.
